Google apps

Owning an API has very high privileges. This keeps you a step ahead of all the rest!!!  And Google truly understands this.

Outcome of this is the Google Aps.
Google has its own set of apps which you use like the Google maps, Hangouts, Currents and similar stuff which goes almost unnoticed.

What many don't know is that besides these, Google also has a depository of other utilities apps which make your Android experience much more effective and optimize your phone.

A detailed description and tested review of these apps will be provided shortly for each and every app so stay tuned for updates on that front.
And if you are an impatient curious brute like me self, you can see each app on the play store ofcourse!!
If you can't find them try searching with the tag "Google Inc" and find out about each of them.

Most of them are free and if my memory serves me well, only one or two are paid.

So explore, stay tuned and have fun!!

Is your droid lost?

A calamity I would not want with anyone to happen, Androids and especially the ones with big screens coming up recently prove out to be hot targets for local thugs and thieves...
I found that out the hard way!!!

Now, you Android has everything from access to your personal information, photos and so on. It might also have stuff about your near and dear ones that you might not like being disclosed.

So keep aside the monetary loss, losing your phone can be a much bigger deal than what you would imagine...

Now to prevent your data you can have privacy locks but what you need to understand is that even if your phone wasn't intended to be stolen, a finder of it might keep it and not report.
In that case, if you have a ICS+ phone then you can set up a message on your lock screen through lock screen settings claiming a record for finder. Others can use third party apps for the same.

So now we have secured our data with basic technical prevention techniques, let us look at some remedies possible if the calamity has already happened.

First and foremost, trust your local police and lodge a police complaint with enough documents supporting your ownership of the lost phones and details.

Now, a mobile phone lost complaint is a very low priority case and usually it takes long to recover lost phones.

So even  officials ask if you have a tracker installed on your phone.
This saves their time and helps you recover your phone easily.

Although I am a big time supporter of free apps, I will recommend shedding some bucks for better paid apps with more security.

I am currently using AntiDroidTheft as it comes highly recommended on play store and a lot of forums.
It requires a simple free registration.

Luckily I haven't felt the need to track my lost phone yet as it was my previous phone that got lost.
So I hope this works just about fine.
You might as well experiment!!!

In the end, stay tuned, have fun!!!

KeyLimePie turns KitKat

News of Google launch of their new OS, KitKat spread like wildfire. Many on various discussions didn't quite like the idea of dropping KeyLimePie for KitKat but then again we don't run Google now, no matter how much we wish we did!

You can check out all the updates on this front from here. The servers however are down for now so the page loads in some language foreign to me, I am sure that it will be resolved soon. You can read a detailed description from here. The launch also comes up with an advertising campaign, I am not interested in telling you about which. You can find out from above links.

Now the only technical information available is that it will be v 4.4 and not 5.0 that everyone was expecting it to be. So what does that have in it for you? Following is a list of possibilities:
  • We should expect news for Launch of Android 5.0 soon enough for tablet or similar platforms. Just like it happened when 3.0 honeycomb was introduced after successive updates on the 2.something series.
  • With gadgets like Google Glasses and so on,  we can also expect 5.0 to be an  entirely new gadget.
So stay tuned to see what future Google has to offer. Adios for now!

Screen Filter

Recommended to me by a friend, screen filter is a one very useful app that I've used almost daily..
For all the techno junkies out there who like using their phone to the best, Screen Filter is the app for you!!
What is does in very plain words is it reduces the brightness level of your screen!!
So what's good about it if you got in the settings menu to increase or decrease your screen brightness??
The twist is that it reduces your screen's brightness to a level lower than what the lowest level your phone allows!!
Now, I have found following applications for it, if you find more, do comment!!
Here they are:
- Displays take up the maximum part of your battery to operate.. with low intensity display, you save your precious phone battery from dying at the wrong moment!
- As privacy filter: Reduced screen intensity does not allow anyone to read your message even if you are poor enough to have a true HD IPS display and wish to chat or operate your phone anonymously!!
- For those who live with their siblings know how irritating can be the remarks from them when you are just checking your messages.. So the app also protects you from mid-night arguments.. neat, huh?!
So well if you think you have  applications from those mentioned above, download the app from here, its free!!

Screenshots to show how effective it is. No editing done ofcourse.

Super Optimize

After my previous post on Clean Master, I thought of exploring Play Store a little more and stumbled upon another similar app - Super Optimize.

There is but a little difference in them. Clean Master has no settings over your battery optimization while Super Optimize does or so it claims. It is a good app in case one isn't bothered about ads. Yeah, I forgot to mention, although this one is free like the latter, it has an add integration making it tedious. Imagine you are low on battery and an add pops up!! That will save the battery for sure!!!

So, now let us talk about good stuff in this. While the rest of the features are same with GUI better in Super Optimize, one and only one stand alone feature it has is the eco mode. In this mode, the app terminates all your syncs, disables Wi-Fi so as to give you a better battery life.

Verdict:

Although this app comes with promising features, it appears to still be in beta stage.
So the alternative is using Clean Master along with another app, Screen Filter with battery saving capacity plus some additional features. I will be reviewing that later. Also stay tuned for some obvious yet unknown optimization methods by which you can make your phone have a longer run with you.

Clean Master

Android apps are getting heavier day by day i.e. the amount of the resources they need to take up from your system has increased. This although does not seem to have much effect on high end phones (The costly ones packed with dual core processor , a GB of RAM or above and above 4 GB internal memory) , it has effect on entry level phones and the basic ones. What this leads to is:
  • Full usage of RAM capacity
  • Clogging of internal memory with Caches and apps.
Although these are only two problems and may seem manageable, on a run of a month or two, heavy usage of your phone under such condition can guide it to its very end. To avoid this, KS mobile has come up with a brilliant app, Clean Master (Cleaner).

This app is totally free with no trial versions, or adds, hidden data transfer, forced logins and so on!! It also comes with features other than monitoring your apps and saving up on memory. The list goes like this:
  • 1 tap widget to immediately close all the applications running in background.
  • Cache Cleaner
  • Residual file cleaner
  • Privacy Cleaner
  • Tasks monitor (Shortcut to which is your 1 tap widget.
  • Apps monitor
On my list for Utility Apps for Android, this app ranks way high and has made its way by continually optimizing my phone for over a year now. The updates are well worth it. So download and use your android like a pro in a more efficient way!

Download from Play Store now!

Homerun Battle

So yeah well people I am back with a review of a very interesting and addictive game that I very recently installed..
Home run battle 3d is the game I'll be reviewing...Although there are alternate versions of it available like Home run battle, Homerun battle 2 and a paid version too, I strongly recommend Home run battle 3d and the reason behind that being its graphics and gameplay are a slight better than the former 2 and is a free version of the latter....
Besides addictive gameplay and surprisingly good graphics for a game of size low as that, what this game is also worth for is its ability to perform on cross platforms for multiplayer... You can of course switch to paid version for more goodies and stuff so leaving you with that much of info I think its time for you to go download and explore!!
Stay tuned, have fun!!

Download different versions from Play Store.
